Private Tennis Lessons FAQ

Whatever age or ability you are in playing tennis, there is never a bad time to get some private tennis lessons in Singapore. Having private lessons with a qualified tennis coach is an excellent way to hone in on your weak areas and really learn for improvement on the court. Perfecting the basics and fundamentals of tennis through private lessons can help you to enjoy the game on a whole new level.

Private tennis lessons are arranged to be one-on-one with you and a coach. They generally last 60 minutes as this is an ideal time to have some intensive coaching done. With private, the coach will be able to target specific areas that you need to work on and help you to improve these through ongoing coaching. It is very much about building a relationship with the coach and having open communication at both ends to improve your playing ability.

If private tennis lessons are out of the budget range, semi-private lessons are the next best thing. These generally operate the same way as private lessons but involve two people. This is a good option for two friends who want to motivate each other on the tennis court and bring more enthusiasm to their lessons.

Private tennis lessons are really for anyone of any age. Tennis coaches are generally skilled in training young kids to teenagers and even adults on the court. The good thing about private lessons is that they can function based on individual skill and ability, regardless of age.

Since private tennis lessons are structured around individual skills and abilities, what is taught is very flexible. Of course, the basic groundwork of serving, forehand, backhand, volleys, and footwork needs to be covered. However, if you feel your backhand needs more coaching attention than anything else, this can be catered for in private lessons.

Generally speaking, private tennis lessons run for about an hour or more if needed. Too much intensive tennis can be too overwhelming and have a negative effect on the muscles. 1 hour to 1.5 hours is ideal to hone in on the skills and commit them to muscle memory without overdoing it. That being said, in some cases coaches may feel that a longer duration will be beneficial and will encourage a 2 hour sessions. This is a case-by-case basis.
